About This Training Course
This accredited course covers the skills and knowledge required to recognise allergic reactions, implement risk minimisation plans, and provide emergency first aid treatment for anaphylaxis using adrenaline auto-injectors (such as EpiPen® and Anapen®) in line with ASCIA action plans and Australian peak clinical guidelines.
What You Will Learn
- Identifying signs and symptoms of mild to moderate allergic reactions vs life-threatening anaphylaxis
- Understanding and following ASCIA Action Plans for Anaphylaxis
- Risk assessment and developing allergen risk minimisation plans in workplaces and community organisations
- Post-incident reporting, ambulance handover, and communication with emergency medical services
- Hands-on practice with training adrenaline auto-injectors: EpiPen® and Anapen® devices
- Correct casualty positioning during an allergic crisis (lay flat, do not stand or walk)
- Storage, expiry checking, and routine inspection of emergency adrenaline auto-injectors

Course Delivery & Format
Conducted at community venues in Mount Beauty, Bright, Myrtleford or on-site at your workplace.
Completed at your own pace from your phone or computer prior to attending class.
Certificate Renewal Requirements
Valid for 3 years (annual practical refresher recommended for education and workplace first aiders).
- Entry Requirements
- Basic English literacy and communication skills.
- Unique Student Identifier (USI).
- Review of emergency anaphylaxis action guidelines prior to class.
- Assessment Activities
Assessment is practical, supportive, and scenario-based to ensure true competence without unnecessary stress.
Practical demonstration of correctly activating adrenaline auto-injectors within 20 seconds.
Correct casualty positioning and simulated emergency communication with Triple Zero (000).
Knowledge assessment on allergen triggers, symptoms, and legal compliance.
