About This Training Course
This comprehensive course provides the knowledge and skills required to provide a first aid response to a casualty in line with first aid guidelines determined by the Australian Resuscitation Council (ARC) and other Australian national peak clinical bodies. It includes CPR and covers a wide range of emergency trauma and medical situations.
What You Will Learn
- Comprehensive DRSABCD protocol and primary casualty assessment
- Managing external bleeding, severe haemorrhage, and shock
- First aid response for burns, scalds, and electrical injuries
- Identifying and managing anaphylaxis with adrenaline auto-injectors (EpiPen/Anapen)
- Handling medical emergencies: heart attack, stroke (FAST test), seizures, diabetes
- Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) & Automated External Defibrillator (AED) usage
- Bandaging and immobilisation for fractures, sprains, and dislocations
- Australian snake bite & spider bite management (Pressure Immobilisation Technique)
- Management of severe asthma flare-ups and spacer administration
- Incident reporting, documentation, debriefing, and psychological first aid

Course Delivery & Format
Conducted at community venues in Mount Beauty, Bright, Myrtleford or on-site at your workplace.
Completed at your own pace from your phone or computer prior to attending class.
Certificate Renewal Requirements
Valid for 3 years. (CPR component recommended for renewal every 12 months).
- Entry Requirements
- Physical ability to complete uninterrupted CPR on an adult manikin on the floor for 2 minutes.
- Active Unique Student Identifier (USI).
- Complete online theory pre-work before attending class.
- Assessment Activities
Assessment is practical, supportive, and scenario-based to ensure true competence without unnecessary stress.
Practical demonstration of CPR, AED, slings, pressure immobilisation bandaging, auto-injector and spacer usage.
Online knowledge quizzes verifying theoretical principles and emergency protocols.
